Danone, Arcor Partner on Argentinian Dairy JV

Danone and Arcor struck a deal for a joint venture in the Argentinian dairy market, fortifying a decadeslong partnership between the two food makers.
French food company Danone said late Tuesday that the partnership would combine its Argentinian business, dairy company Mastellone Hermanos and logistics subsidiary Logistica La Serenisima.
"This underlines our commitment to the Argentinian market and Latin America," Danone's Chief Executive Antoine de Saint-Affrique said.
The two companies initially formed a partnership in 2005, combining businesses for cookies, crackers and cereal bars, according to Arcor's website.
"The creation of this dairy joint venture with Danone represents a decisive step toward enhancing the commercial, operational, and management capabilities of both companies," Alfredo Pagani, Arcor's president, said.
The dairy JV will open up opportunities in the market through eleven production plants in the region, Danone said.
Danone and Arcor will hold equal control of the JV, and in Danone's financial statements it will be reflected as an equity-accounted company, it said.
