FCC Approves TV License Assignments in Gray Media Purchase From Allen Media

The Federal Communications Commission approved license assignments for three television stations that Gray Media is buying from Byron Allen's Media Group.
The $171 million deal announced last August includes 10 stations overall. The FCC proceedings involved the three new markets for Gray: Columbus-Tupelo, Miss.; Terre Haute, Ind.; and West Lafayette, Ind.
In addition to the approvals for WLFI and WTHI in Indiana and WTVA in Mississippi, the FCC said staff has been informed by the Justice Department of that it doesn't intend to take any action related to the applications.
Gray had originally intended to complete the purchase during the fourth quarter.
