Meta to Open Flagship 'Meta Lab' Store on New York's Fifth Avenue

By Connor Hart

Meta Platforms has signed a long-term lease for a flagship retail location on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue, as the company expands its physical retail strategy and pushes deeper into consumer hardware.

Meta said Wednesday it will open the store, dubbed Meta Lab, at 697 Fifth Avenue. The company signed a 10-year lease with Vornado Realty Trust to occupy a five-level, roughly 15,000-square-foot townhouse building adjacent to the base of The St. Regis New York hotel.

Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

The location marks Meta's first flagship retail presence in Manhattan and follows a Los Angeles flagship that opened last year. Meta also operates a smaller retail site in California and has recently tested pop-up formats in other U.S. markets. The company said it is planning additional retail openings in 2026.

Meta Lab stores are designed as experiential showrooms where consumers can try the company's artificial intelligence-enabled glasses and virtual reality headsets, the company said.

Matt Jacobson, vice president and creative director of wearables at Meta, said the company's retail approach has driven meaningful sales and awareness of its products. "Placing our flagship store alongside the brands that help define culture will distinguish Meta Lab from traditional consumer electronics retail," he said.
