Adidas Extends Bjoern Gulden's Contract as CEO Until Late 2030

By Andrea Figueras

Adidas said it has extended the contract of Bjoern Gulden as its chief executive officer until the end of 2030 and proposed a number of changes to its supervisory board.

Since Gulden joined the company in 2023, Adidas embarked on a revamp strategy, taking steps to reposition its brand amid fierce competition. "Gulden drove the successful turnaround of Adidas during the past three years," said Thomas Rabe, chairman of the supervisory board. Gulden's contract has been extended until Dec. 31, 2030, the group said Wednesday.

The company also renewed the appointment of Michelle Robertson, responsible for global human resources, people and culture, until Dec. 31, 2031 and agreed to propose the re-election of Nassef Sawiris to the supervisory board for a further three-year term of office.

Following the annual general meeting, which will take place on May 7, the supervisory board intends to elect Sawiris as chairman. He is to succeed Thomas Rabe, whose term of office will end as planned at the close of the meeting.

The company will also propose the reelection of Ian Gallienne as chairman of the board of directors for a term of three years, while Mathias Doepfner, CEO of Axel Springer, will be proposed as a new member of the supervisory board.
