Ajinomoto Foods North America Expands Glass-Related Recall to About 37 Million Pounds

Ajinomoto Foods North America's expanded its recall resulting from concerns about the possible presence of glass, according to the Agriculture Department's Food Safety and Inspection Service.
The expanded recall, covering about 37 million pounds of products, includes fried rice, ramen and shu mai dumplings under brand names Ajinomoto, Kroger, Ling Ling, Tai Pei and Trader Joe's.
FSIS said the company determined that carrots were the likely source of the glass contamination.
In February, FSIS said Ajinomoto Foods, a unit of Japan's Ajinomoto Co., notified the agency of four consumer complaints regarding glass. The company issued a recall for about 3.4 million pounds of products.
There have been no confirmed injury reports, FSIS said Tuesday.
Ajinomoto Foods North America's operations include the Jose Ole brand and multiple foodservice brands.
