Health Care Losses Limited Amid Defensive Bias - Health Care Roundup

Health-care companies fell, but not by as much as the broad market, as traders rotated into defensive sectors.

Health insurer Cigna named President and Chief Operating Officer Brian Evanko as chief executive, replacing longtime leader David Cordani who is retiring.

Two of the largest charities that provide hundreds of millions of dollars in financial assistance to help Americans pay for medical treatments, the Patient Advocate Foundation combined with the Patient Access Network Foundation, merged in one of the biggest combinations in the nonprofit healthcare sector.

A strike in California health-care system Kaiser Permanente will likely weigh on jobs growth in the February report due Friday, but the health-care jobs market still remains a bright spot in the U.S., according to economists at one brokerage.

"We remain positive on the health-care sector in 2026 given its acyclical nature, its low exposure to AI, and an aging population," said economists at brokerage Bank of America Global Research.
