Heathrow Airport Pretax Profit Falls on Higher Costs
By Anthony O. Goriainoff
Heathrow Airport said pretax profit fell for the year after booking higher costs.
The airport on Wednesday said pretax profit for 2025 was 575 million pounds ($775.6 million) compared with 917 million pounds the year prior. On an adjusted basis--which strips out exceptional and other one-off items--the metric fell 39% to 275 million pounds.
Revenue rose to 3.62 billion pounds from 3.56 billion pounds, as passenger numbers increased to 84.5 million from 83.9 million.
Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization--the company's preferred metric--were flat on year at 2.03 billion pounds.
The company said it was seeing a positive shift in employment costs due to better workforce planning, but added that the technical debt of an aging asset base continued to drive up maintenance spending. It added that its expansion will unlock significant economic benefits.
"With strong foundations in place and with the airport now operating very close to capacity, the next chapter is crucial to our success," it said.
