Rolls-Royce Lobbies U.K. Government to Subsidize New Engine Development, FT Says, Citing Sources
-- U.K. engine-maker Rolls-Royce is urging the British government to subsidize the development of a new aircraft engine, a project expected to cost 3 billion pounds ($4.04 billion), the Financial Times reports citing unnamed sources.
-- Rolls-Royce has asked for between 100 million and 200 million pounds in the first instance, and would like the government to make a commitment in the first half of this year, the newspaper adds.
-- The new engine would allow Rolls-Royce to re-enter the narrow-body market, FT writes.
