IHS Towers to Sell Latin American Operations to Macquarie Asset Management
By Nicholas G. Miller
IHS Towers has agreed to sell its Latin America tower operations to Macquarie Asset Management in a deal with an enterprise value of $952 million, including lease liabilities.
The sale includes IHS's Brazil and Colombia divisions and the company's 8,860 sites in the region.
The deal expands Macquarie's infrastructure portfolio in Brazil and Colombia, which includes investments in digital infrastructure, waste management, transportation and green energy sectors.
"We expect further wireless and digital infrastructure investment will be required to support 5G network buildout in Brazil and Colombia over the next several years," said Fernando Lohmann, Brazil country lead at Macquarie.
The transaction is expected to close later this year.
