Energy Up Amid Deal Activity — Energy Roundup

Shares of energy companies rose amid deal activity.

Transocean rose after the rig operator agreed to buy fellow offshore drilling services company Valaris in an all-stock deal worth $5.8 billion. The combined company would own 73 rigs, giving customers access to many major offshore oilfields around the world.

U.S. natural gas futures compounded losses, with weather forecasts showing warmer temperatures ahead for much of the U.S.

Natural-gas producer Expand Energy's chief executive Domenic Dell'Osso stepped down, to be succeeded by Chairman Mike Wichterich, amid plans to relocate the company's headquarters to Spring, Texas, a city in the Houston area, from Oklahoma City, Okla.
