Metlen Energy Shares Drop on Guidance Cut
By Nina Kienle
Shares in Metlen Energy & Metals fell on Friday after the U.K-listed energy and metals company cut its earnings guidance due to unexpected cost overruns and the delayed closing of certain transactions.
In European midday trading shares are 14% lower at 38.45 euros and down 13% over the year to date.
Metlen said that it now expects earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization for 2025 to come in around 25% lower. It previously said it expected Ebitda for the year to exceed the 1 billion euro ($1.18 billion) mark.
This is as a result of cost overruns in its M Power Projects business and the delayed closing of certain transactions related to its renewables assets, it said.
Nevertheless, this year's performance has started well, Metlen said. The midterm guidance remains unchanged and the potential mergers and acquisition transactions in Western Europe are expected to conclude in the short term, it added.
The company is expected to post full-year preliminary results on March 31.
