AMD 4Q Sales Climb on Help From Data-Center Business
By Katherine Hamilton
Advanced Micro Devices recorded a 34% jump in fourth-quarter sales as its data center business boomed.
The chip maker on Tuesday posted a profit of $1.51 billion, or 92 cents a share, in the quarter ended in late December, compared with $482 million, or 29 cents a share, a year earlier.
Stripping out certain one-time items, adjusted per-share earnings were $1.53, ahead of the $1.32 anticipated by analysts, according to FactSet.
Revenue rose 34% to $10.27 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet forecast revenue of $9.69 billion.
During the quarter, AMD benefited from releasing about $360 million worth of previously reserved Instinct MI308 inventory.
AMD's data center segment sales jumped 39%, driven by strong demand for its EPYC processors and the ramp-up of its Instinct GPU shipments.
Client and gaming sales increased 37%. The company had strong demand for its Ryzen processors and its Radeon GPUs, it said.
In the first quarter of 2026, AMD expects revenue to be between $9.5 billion and $10.1 billion, which would be ahead of Wall Street's projection of $9.42 billion.
AMD's forecast includes about $100 million from sales of Instinct MI308 to China.
