By Rob Curran

Marsh's fourth-quarter net income rose amid revenue growth across the recently renamed firm's insurance and consulting brands.

The professional services firm posted earnings of $821 million, or $1.68 a share, up from $788 million or $1.59 a share, a year earlier.

Stripping out certain one-off items, Marsh logged adjusted earnings of $2.12 a share, handily beating the average Wall Street target of $1.97 a share, as per FactSet.

Revenue rose 9% to $6.6 billion, topping the average analyst expectations of $6.32 billion, as per FactSet.

Risk & Insurance Services unit's revenue rose 9% to $4 billion, with particular strength in the Marsh Risk business line. Consulting revenue rose 8% to $2.6 billion, with brisk activity in both its Mercer and Marsh Management Consulting arms.

The more than century-old insurance brokerage recently changed its name from Marsh & McLennan to Marsh and its ticker symbol to MRSH from MMC. The firm also created a new unit focused on investments in data, AI and analytics.

The change will take effect at the start of next year, while the company's four businesses, which now include a range of consulting and professional services, will adopt the Marsh brand in 2027.
