Meta, EssilorLuxottica Hit With Lawsuit Alleging Patent Infringement on Smart Glasses

Meta and EssilorLuxottica were hit with a lawsuit alleging the companies infringed on Solos Technology's patents for smart-glasses technologies.
Solos said Friday its lawsuit seeks multiple billions of dollars in damages, as well as an injunction that would urge the defendants from infringing on its patents in the future.
Solos filed the lawsuit against Meta and EssilorLuxottica, as well as Oakley, a subsidiary of EssilorLuxottica.
The complaint alleges the defendants infringed on Solos' patents involving smart glasses, including functions like multimodal sensing, audio processing, intelligent assistance and integrated system architectures for real-time user interaction.
Solos said it secured such patents years before the defendants began developing their smart glasses.
Meta, EssilorLuxottica and Oakley did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
