Integra LifeSciences Identifies Issues With Wound, Burn Products
By Kelly Cloonan
Integra LifeSciences has identified issues with certain wound and burn products that have resulted in serious injuries, the Food and Drug Administration said.
The FDA said Thursday that packaging failures related to the company's MediHoney Wound and Burn products could lead to a breach in the sterile barrier, potentially resulting in infection. Production and process control issues for certain CVS Wound Gel products could also lead to infection.
Integra has reported 11 serious injuries related to the MediHoney products and three serious injuries related to the CVS wound products as of Dec. 19, the FDA said.
Integra issued a letter to affected customers recommending they do not sell the MediHoney products and certain lots of the CVS products, the FDA said.
