By Nicholas G. Miller
Shares of Janux Therapeutics rose after the company formed a collaboration and license agreement with Bristol Myers Squibb to develop a tumor-activated therapeutic for solid tumors in several human cancer types.
The stock rose 15% to $15.21 in premarket trading after closing Wednesday down 70% over the past 52 weeks.
Janux will be responsible for preclinical development up to the submission of an investigational new drug application, while Bristol Myers Squibb will be responsible for subsequent development and global commercialization. Janux will remain actively involved, supporting Bristol Myers Squibb through the first Phase 1 clinical study.
Janux may receive up to $50 million in upfront and near-term milestone payments, and is eligible to receive development, regulatory and commercial milestones up to $800 million. Janux will also receive tiered royalties on global product sales.
"This collaboration marks a significant milestone for Janux, validating the strength of our tumor-activated platforms and expanding our reach in solid tumor oncology," said Chief Executive David Campbell.
