UniQure Climbs on Scheduling FDA Meeting for Huntington's Disease Treatment
By Elias Schisgall
Shares of UniQure were higher after the gene therapy company said it had scheduled a Type A meeting with the Food and Drug Administration to discuss a Biologics License Application for the company's investigational Huntington's disease treatment.
The stock was up 17% at $26.99 Friday morning. The stock has nearly doubled in value in the past year.
The company said Friday that the meeting would discuss accelerated approval of the treatment, known as AMT-130.
"We look forward to a constructive discussion with the FDA as we work toward a timely resolution regarding an accelerated approval pathway for AMT-130," Chief Executive Officer Matt Kapusta said.
"The Huntington's disease community, including patients and clinicians, has emphasized the profound unmet medical need and the importance of timely access to potentially disease-modifying therapies such as AMT-130," Kapusta added. We remain deeply committed to patient access while continuing to collaborate closely with the FDA."
