Energy Up Alongside Oil Futures — Energy Roundup

Shares of energy companies rose sharply alongside oil futures amid moderated concerns about over-supplies and increased Venezuelan production.

Representatives from Chevron, ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, and other oil companies will meet with President Donald Trump on Friday to discuss rebuilding Venezuela's oil industry.

The prospect of increased U.S. influence over Venezuela's oil industry is raising questions about Washington's potential future role in OPEC, the cartel of global oil producers that President Trump has often called on to lower crude prices.

British oil major Shell warned that a weak oil-trading performance would weigh on its earnings, compounding what is shaping up to be a challenging period as prices continue to slide.
