Toronto Stocks Edge Lower; Organigram Increases Investment in Phylos Bioscience

Toronto stocks were lower mid-trading on Wednesday, the final trading day of 2025. Sector performance was mixed in the session, with losses in health services, manufacturing and process industries outweighing gains largely in the tech, communications and materials sectors. The TSX will be closed Jan. 1 for New Year's Day and reopen Friday.
At midday, Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index fell by 0.3% to 31759.09 and the blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 declined 0.4% to 1861.80.
Organigram Global said it has increased its investment by $3 million in cannabis genetics company Phylos Bioscience, which will give it priority access to its cannabis plant seeds. Organigram now has a consolidated investment in the company worth $10 million in the form of a loan agreement. Shares are up 0.2% to 2.33 Canadian dollars ($1.70).
