By Paul Ziobro

Analog Devices posted significantly higher fourth-quarter profit on a 26% jump in revenue, led by growth from its industrial and communications segments.

The semiconductor company on Tuesday reported earnings of $787.7 million, or $1.60 a share, compared with $478.1 million, or 96 cents a share, in the year-ago period.

Adjusted earnings were $2.26 a share. Analysts polled by FactSet had expected $2.24 a share.

Revenue rose to $3.08 billion, ahead of the roughly $3 billion expected by analysts.

The top-line growth came across all segments, with communications up 37% and industrial, its largest by revenue, up 34%. Revenue also rose 19% in automotive and 7% in consumer.

Chief Financial Officer Richard Puccio said that macro uncertainty will impact the trajectory of its results for the upcoming year but that the company is in a good position to capitalize on ongoing cyclical recovery and secular growth opportunities.

For the current quarter, the company forecasts adjusted per-share earnings between $2.19 and $2.39 and revenue between $3 billion and $3.2 billion.

Analysts are looking for adjusted earnings of $2.16 a share from revenue of $2.97 billion.
