Lenovo 2Q Revenue Rises on Strong AI Push

By P.R. Venkat

Lenovo Group's revenue rose sharply in the second quarter, benefiting from the global push to adopt Windows 11 and the world's largest PC maker's growing server business amid the artificial-intelligence boom.

Revenue for the three months ended Sept. 30 increased 15% from a year earlier, to $20.45 billion, marginally topping market expectation of $20 billion.

Net profit fell 5% on year, to $340 million, missing the $382 million expected in a FactSet poll of analysts.

However, its adjusted net profit, excluding non-cash and non-operating effects, rose 25%, to $512.0 million.

Lenovo's main business, the intelligent-devices segment that includes PCs, smartphones and tablets, posted a 15% rise in revenue in the first half.

The global PC market has maintained strong momentum, helped by the Windows 11 transition.

Shipments of PCs in the September quarter rose 17%, to 19.4 million units, with a market share of 25.5%, according to IDC data.
