AIG Says Former Lloyd's CEO John Neal No Longer Joining as President
By Colin Kellaher
John Neal won't be joining American International Group after all, in the latest twist involving the former Lloyd's of London chief's next job.
AIG in July said it had hired Neal as president of the New York insurance giant, upending the executive's agreement to join insurance broker Aon as global chairman of climate solutions and global chief executive of reinsurance.
But in a brief filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission Friday, AIG said it reached a mutual agreement with Neal that he would no longer join as planned due to personal circumstances.
Neal, who was leaving Lloyd's after more than six years as CEO of the world's biggest insurance marketplace, had been slated to join AIG on Dec. 1 and lead its general insurance organization, which includes the North America commercial insurance, international commercial insurance and global personal insurance businesses.
AIG said Peter Zaffino, its chairman and CEO, will work with the board on the company's future organizational structure.
