DHL Group to Invest $1.16 Billion in India Over Next Few Years

By Dominic Chopping

DHL Group said it would invest around 1 billion euros ($1.16 billion) in India by 2030 as the country continues to take an increasing role in international supply chains.

The German logistics company said the multi-year investment will include major infrastructure developments across India covering sectors including life sciences and healthcare, new energy, e-commerce, and digitalization.

"Global trade is facing headwinds, but we remain confident in India's dynamic market," said Chief Executive Tobias Meyer. "The country's diversification strategy and business-friendly policies provide a solid foundation for long-term investments."

Its plans include developing a health logistics hub, an automatic sorting center, IT services center as well as other facilities including one focused on electric vehicle and battery logistics.

India is experiencing increasing trade with countries across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and the Americas, and the country is becoming a global technology hub for DHL Group, it said.

A new IT services center and training academy in Indore will train employees in automation and AI, reinforcing DHL's digitalization strategy, it added.

As part of its sustainability and digitalization goals, DHL said it will implement measures in India that include fleet electrification, low-emission facilities, and a program to enable more sustainable shipping through renewable fuels and electric vehicles.
