E.ON's Adjusted Earnings Rise on Networks Investment
By Adam Whittaker
E.ON's adjusted earnings grew after getting a boost from higher investments in its networks unit, but net profit tumbled.
The German utility said Wednesday that for the first nine months of the year, adjusted net profit--which strips out exceptional and other one-off items--rose 4% on the same period a year prior to 2.30 billion euros ($2.66 billion). However, net profit fell over 60% to 918 million euros.
Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization climbed 10% to 7.38 billion euros.
The company's earnings growth was driven by its energy-networks division, which had an 18% increase in adjusted earnings to 5.6 billion euros due to higher investments to modernize network infrastructure.
E.ON reiterated that it expects full-year adjusted earnings of 9.6 billion to 9.8 billion euros, and adjusted net profit between 2.85 billion to 3.05 billion euros.
