Toronto Stocks Flat; Brookfield Renewable Partners Down on $650 Million Fundraiser

Toronto-listed stocks were virtually flat Tuesday mid-trading, with a mixed performance from Canada's sectors. Gains were primarily in health tech stocks, followed by energy and communications. The biggest laggards were in tech, materials and utilities stocks.
At midday, Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index remained unchanged at 30316.57 and the blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 rose slightly, by 0.1% to 1787.02.
Shares of Brookfield Renewable Partners fell by 6% to 41.03 Canadian dollars ($29.26) after the company said that it will raise $650 million to fund recent acquisitions and for future investment opportunities.
Other market movers:
Calian Group shares rose by 7.2% to C$52.12 after the company's management agreed to change up its board and form a new committee to oversee the divestment of noncore businesses following pressure from one of its largest shareholders, Plantro.
Profound Medical shares rose by 11% to C$9.25 after regaining distribution rights for its medical device system, Tulsa-Pro, used to destroy prostate cancer tissue previous licensed out.
Kits Eyecare's shares rose by 9% to C$13.63 after the eyecare provider kicked off November with what it said were a week of record-breaking sales.
