Bharti Airtel Net Profit, Revenue Boosted by Customer Growth

Bharti Airtel reported a higher net profit and revenue for the second quarter, driven by strong customer growth.
The Indian telecom company said Monday that net profit rose 89% in the three months ended Sept. 30 to 67.92 billion rupees, equivalent to $765.2 million, from 35.93 billion rupees for the comparable period a year earlier.
That beat the estimate of 64.33 billion rupees in a poll of analysts by Visible Alpha.
Second-quarter revenue climbed 26% from a year earlier to 521.45 billion rupees from 414.73 billion rupees.
Profit from its Airtel business segment fell 6.7% to 52.76 billion rupees.
