Stellantis Partners With Nvidia, Uber and Foxconn to Develop Robotaxis
By Dominic Chopping
Stellantis is teaming up with Nvidia, Uber and Foxconn to develop driverless taxis, the companies said in a joint statement.
The collaboration will explore the joint development and deployment of autonomous vehicles for robotaxi services globally, with the companies planning to start vehicle production in 2028.
Under the agreement, Stellantis will design, engineer, and manufacture the vehicles, with Nvidia supplying its autonomous driving software and Foxconn collaborating on hardware and systems integration.
Uber will operate the robotaxis, with plans to initially deploy 5,000 of the vehicles in select cities worldwide. The first deployments will be in the U.S., with pilot programs and testing expected over the coming years.
"We have built autonomous vehicle-ready platforms to meet growing demand, and by partnering with leaders in AI, electronics, and mobility services, we aim to create a scalable solution," Stellantis Chief Executive Antonio Filosa said.
