Naturgy Earnings Rise on Higher Energy Prices

By Anthony O. Goriainoff

Naturgy said earnings rose in the first nine months of the year, when macroeconomic uncertainty, geopolitical developments and lower temperatures drove gas and electricity prices higher.

The Spanish energy company said Wednesday that net profit climbed to 1.67 billion euros ($1.95 billion) from 1.58 billion euros in the equivalent period of last year on revenue that grew to 14.59 billion euros from 13.92 billion euros.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization slipped to 4.21 billion euros from 4.29 billion euros.

Net debt at the end of the nine-month period stood at 12.91 billion euros compared with 12.20 billion euros at the end of 2024.

The company said its networks division delivered stable results when excluding one-off items from the same period in 2024. Higher regulated returns from Spanish electricity networks and tariff updates in Latin America were offset by foreign-exchange depreciation in the period, it said.

The board reiterated its guidance for the year. In July it said it expected net income of more than 2.0 billion euros this year compared with 1.90 billion euros in 2024, and Ebitda of more than 5.30 billion euros compared with 5.365 billion euros last year.
