Nexperia Warns Japan Car-Parts Makers Supply Can't Be Guaranteed — Update

Nexperia told Japanese car-parts makers that the Dutch semiconductor manufacturer may not be able to guarantee the supply of chips, a Tokyo-based auto industry association said.
The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association said Thursday that Nexperia's chips are crucial parts and that a lack of supply may have a significant impact on global production. Nexperia chips are used in vehicle electronic control units.
The association said it hopes that the countries involved will resolve the issue soon.
The Dutch government last month wrested control of Nexperia from its Chinese owner Wingtech Technology, citing the need to preserve "technological knowledge and capabilities" necessary for Europe's economic security.
China fired back by prohibiting the export of certain Nexperia products manufactured in the country.
