Orange Lifts Earnings Outlook on Higher Revenue
By Najat Kantouar
Orange raised its earnings outlook after it reported higher revenue for the third quarter, boosted by retail-services growth mainly in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
The French telecommunications company now expects full-year earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, amortization and after leases, or Ebitdaal, growth of at least 3.5%, up from over 3%. It still anticipates organic cash flow from telecom activities of at least 3.6 billion euros ($4.18 billion).
For the third quarter, revenue rose 0.8% to 9.99 billion euros, driven by growth in retail services across the Europe and Africa and Middle East divisions. This slightly beat company-compiled consensus expectations of 9.965 billion euros. In the Europe and Africa and Middle East divisions, revenue grew 4.7% and 12%, respectively.
In France, revenue fell 3.7% due to the impact of price effects on retail services and a fall in wholesale services and equipment sales.
Ebitdaal--the company's preferred metric--rose 3.7% to 3.44 billion euros. Company-compiled consensus had group Ebitdaal at 3.43 billion euros.
