Amphenol 3Q Sales, Profit Jump on Data Center Demand

By Nicholas G. Miller

Amphenol reported higher third-quarter sales and profit on the back of increased demand from AI data centers for its connection technologies.

The electric connector manufacturer on Wednesday posted net income of $1.25 billion, or 97 cents a share, up from $604.4 million, or 48 cents a share, the year prior.

Adjusted earnings came in at 93 cents a share. Analysts expected 79 cents, according to FactSet.

Sales rose 53% to $6.2 billion, beating Wall Street's forecast of $5.53 billion. Top-line gains were fueled by the company's communication solutions division, which saw revenue grow to $3.31 billion from $1.69 billion the year before. The division includes the components, such as cables and high-speed connectors, it supplies to AI data centers.

Amphenol recently agreed to acquire CommScope's connectivity and cable solutions business for $10.5 billion, which Truist analysts said in a note last month would expand Amphenol's data center business, moving it closer to becoming a true leader in the market.

The company has also seen significant growth from its defense customers in recent quarters and its exposure to that market is expected to grow with its recently announced $1 billion acquisition of Trexon, analyst say.

Amphenol guided for fourth-quarter sales of $6 billion to $6.1 billion and adjusted earnings of 89 cents to 91 cents a share. Analysts see fourth-quarter sales of $5.68 billion and adjusted earnings of 80 cents a share.
