Danaher 3Q Sales and Profit Rise on Bioprocessing Momentum
By Nicholas G. Miller
Danaher recorded higher third-quarter sales and profit on the back of momentum in its bioprocessing business and better-than-expected sales in its respiratory market.
The life sciences and diagnostics company reported net income of $908 million, or $1.27 a share, up from $818 million, or $1.12 a share the prior year.
Adjusted earnings were $1.89 a share. Analysts had expected $1.72, according to FactSet.
The company posted $6.05 billion in sales, up from $5.8 billion the year before. Wall Street had expected $6 billion.
Danaher reaffirmed its full-year adjusted earnings guidance of $7.70 to $7.80 a share. Analysts see $7.78 a share.
After falling earlier this year, Danaher's stock has rebounded in recent weeks after Pfizer agreed to a deal with the Trump administration that included a three-year exemption on tariffs. Analysts say the deal brought clarity to the pharmaceutical industry, providing assurance it could avoid Trump's promised 100% tariff for pharmaceutical imports with similar deals.
Keybanc analysts said in a note earlier this month that the new clarity around tariffs will allow big pharmaceutical companies to resume their normal spending, which should provide a boost to life-sciences companies like Danaher.
