WeightWatchers Shares Climb on Amazon Team-Up

By Dean Seal

Shares of WW International, better known as WeightWatchers, jumped after the company said it has partnered with Amazon.com's pharmacy division.

The stock was up 11% at $29.88 in early trading. Shares started trading again in late June at $27 apiece after the company emerged from bankruptcy.

The health and wellness company said Monday that the collaboration with Amazon Pharmacy will let WeightWatchers Clinic members gain access to real-time medication availability, automatic coupon savings and home delivery of weight-management medications.

WW International filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this year to adjust to the rising use of drugs such as Ozempic for weight loss. The company emerged from bankruptcy over the summer and undertook a reorganization aimed at modernizing its business model.

With the Amazon team-up, WeightWatchers Clinic members can now check in-stock availability, compare delivery times and choose Amazon Pharmacy to fill their prescriptions, the company said.

Amazon Pharmacy also will automatically apply manufacturer-sponsored savings at checkout with no enrollment or requirement to manually enter coupon cards.
