Germany's Merck Sets Out Midterm Sales Growth, Profitability Expansion Targets

By Billy Gray

Germany's Merck KGaA said it is targeting annual organic sales growth in the mid-single-digit percentage range and an expansion in profitability over the medium term, and confirmed its 2025 guidance.

The German chemicals and life-science company said Thursday that it backed its earlier guidance for 2025, which called for organic growth in net sales of 3% to 6% and in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization before exceptional items of 3% to 7%.

Over the medium term, Merck said it targets annual organic sales growth in the mid single-digit percentage range and an expansion in its Ebitda pre-exceptional margin of one percentage point. For 2024, the company reported an Ebitda margin before exceptional items of 28.7%.

"We are sharply focused on growth and well-positioned in attractive markets through a combination of organic investments and a string of targeted acquisitions of companies delivering breakthrough solutions," said Merck CEO Belen Garijo.
