Leonardo DRS Receives U.S. Army Contract to Develop Vehicle-Integrated Power Kit

Leonardo DRS said it was awarded a contract by the U.S. Army to develop prototype vehicle-integrated power kits.
The kits, which will deliver power to mission-critical systems without the need for external power sources, will support the growing need for on-demand power in the field, the defense firm said Tuesday.
The prototype will be centered on Leonardo DRS's onboard vehicle power solution, known as Titan, which can generate up to 120 kilowatts of electrical power directly from the vehicle's drivetrain. That power will enable the operation of high-demand, mission-critical systems, such as communications, mobile command and control and missile defense launchers, the company said.
"This award highlights our continued commitment to delivering mission-enabling technologies that increase operational effectiveness for our military customers," said Dennis Crumley, senior vice president and general manager of the Leonardo DRS Land Electronics business unit.
Leonardo DRS, the U.S. subsidiary of Italian defense giant Leonardo, didn't detail terms of the award.
