Bloom Energy, Brookfield Asset Management Form $5 Billion AI-Infrastructure Partnership — Update

By Nicholas G. Miller

Bloom Energy agreed to a $5 billion partnership with Brookfield Asset Management to construct factories to supply compute and energy for AI, notching its latest win in the race to meet AI data centers' skyrocketing power demands.

As part of the partnership, Bloom Energy will be the preferred onsite power provider for Brookfield's AI factories.

Bloom's shares surged 23% to $107 in premarket trading. Through Friday's close, the stock had almost quadrupled this year, largely on the back of successes in the AI-power market.

This year, Bloom agreed to a partnership with Oracle to power some of its data centers and also expanded its power agreement with Equinix to supply more than 100 megawatts of power to its data centers. Last year, the company secured a deal from American Electric Power to deploy one gigawatt of fuel cells for data centers.

AI and data-center companies have been on the hunt for reliable and expansive power sources to meet the surging energy needs of training AI models and of responding to user queries. Analysts have said Bloom Energy's ability to provide onsite power generation gives it a leg up, allowing data centers to bypass grid bottlenecks for energy and power interconnection.
