Tech Down as AI Frenzy Cools - Tech Roundup

Shares of technology companies slipped as the artificial-intelligence frenzy cooled off.

The Roundhill Magnificent Seven exchange-traded fund, which tracks many of the big players in AI, fell, but remain roughly 37% higher over the last 12 months.

Investors are concerned that capital expenditure on AI infrastructure has become a reckless arms race, with apparently "circular" cross-investments between chip makers, data-center builders and Big Tech software makers muddying the demand picture.

Alphabet's Google will pump about $5.82 billion into Brussels, the capital of capital into Belgium over the next two years, the latest large-scale investment from a U.S. tech giant bolstering its data-center infrastructure in Europe.

Microsoft recently unveiled similar multibillion-dollar AI investment plans in the United Kingdom.
