Tata Consultancy Services' Quarterly Profit Rises

Tata Consultancy Services reported higher second-quarter net profit, led by gains in the financial segment.

The Indian information-technology services provider said Thursday that net profit rose 1.4% from a year earlier to 120.75 billion rupees, equivalent to $1.36 billion, for the three months ended September. That missed the estimate of 125.55 billion rupees in a poll of analysts by data provider Visible Alpha.

Second-quarter revenue increased 2.4% to 657.99 billion rupees.

Profit from its banking, financial services and insurance segment rose 7.5% to 68.18 billion rupees.
