Lexeo Shares Rise On Progress for Heart Disease Treatment

By Nicholas G. Miller

Shares of Lexeo Therapeutics rose in off-hours trading after the company reported progress in discussions with the Food and Drug Administration regarding the accelerated approval pathway for its treatment of Friedreich ataxia cardiomyopathy.

The stock was up 26% to $8.13. As of Monday's close, the stock slipped 24% over the prior 12 months.

The New York company on Monday said the FDA was open to pooling data from Lexeo's ongoing Phase 1/2 studies of the drug, called LX2006. That could shorten the timeline toward submission of a drug application under the accelerated approval pathway, the company said.

Lexeo said its ongoing studies show sustained or deepening improvements for the majority of patients across both cardiac and neurologic measures of Friedreich ataxia.

Friedreich ataxia is a neurodegenerative disease that often leads to cardiomyopathy, a heart condition.
