Consumer Cos Up Ahead of Earnings — Consumer Roundup

Consumer companies rose ahead of earnings.

Constellation Brands fell ahead of the brewer's earnings, due after the bell.

Delta Air Lines shares rose ahead of its earnings report later in the week. One strategist said the Atlanta carrier's earnings could have broader ramifications.

"What's happening there in my mind is indicative of what's happening with both business and pleasure travelers, and with consumer sentiment," said J.D. Joyce, president of Houston financial advisory Joyce Wealth Management.

Investors are also eagerly awaiting the University of Michigan's sentiment survey and the minutes from the last Federal Reserve meeting, Joyce said.

"At a time where we don't have as much government data, investors are probably going to be grabbing ahold of whatever information they can from whatever source," Joyce said.
