By Dean Seal

Ameresco said it is working with the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory to execute a $197 million energy-savings performance contract.

The energy provider said Monday that the initiative is designed to modernize critical infrastructure and generate long-term cost savings across the laboratory's Washington, D.C. campus and Chesapeake Bay Detachment.

The project, once fully implemented, is expected to yield $12.5 million in annual cost savings, Ameresco said.

Ameresco shares rose 3.8% to $39.69 in postmarket trading.
