OpenAI Valuation Reaches $500 Billion After Employee Stock-Sale Deal, Bloomberg Says, Citing Source
-- ChatGPT owner OpenAI surpassed SpaceX as the largest startup after a deal to sell employee-owned stock pushed the company to a $500 billion valuation, according to an unidentified person in a Bloomberg report.
-- Current and former employees sold about $6.6 billion worth of stock to investors that include Thrive Capital, SoftBank Group, Dragoneer Investment Group, Abu Dhabi's MGX and T. Rowe Price, the report said.
-- The deal brings OpenAI's valuation beyond the previous $300 billion valuation level reached in financing rounds earlier this year, putting it above that of Elon Musk's SpaceX, the report said.
