Mitsubishi UFJ to Set Up Japan Startup Fund of More Than $300 Million

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group plans to set up an equity fund of more than $300 million to invest in middle- and later-stage startups in Japan.

The Japanese financial company said Wednesday that it will seek investments in the fund from Japanese and international investors and that the fund's size is expected to be 50 billion yen, equivalent to $338 million.

Mitsubishi UFJ said it will hire a chief investment officer for the fund externally.
