Tyson's Hillshire Brands Recalls 58 Million Pounds of Corn Dogs, Sausage Items on Wood Concerns
By Josh Beckerman
Hillshire Brands, which is a part of Tyson Foods, is recalling about 58 million pounds of corn dogs and sausage-on-a-stick products due to concerns about wood embedded in the batter, the Agriculture Department's Food Safety and Inspection Service said.
The recall includes various State Fair corn dogs and some Jimmy Dean items, including Pancakes & Sausage on a Stick.
FSIS said there were multiple consumer complaints, five of which involved injuries.
Hillshire said the products were produced at the Haltom City, Texas, facility and it is the only location affected by the voluntary recall.
The products subject to recall bear establishment number EST-582 or P-894 printed on the packaging, FSIS said. The recalled items should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase, FSIS said.
