Vaxcyte to Partner with Thermo Fisher to Increase Vaccine Production in U.S.
By Nicholas G. Miller
Vaxcyte agreed to a deal with Thermo Fisher, a scientific services company, to increase production of Vaxcyte's pneumococcal bacteria vaccines in the U.S.
Thermo Fisher will provide commercial fill-finish manufacturing, which includes the labeling and packaging of drug products, at its Greenville, North Carolina facility.
Vaxcyte said the agreement is part of its plan of up to $1 billion to increase domestic production.
The Trump administration has pressured pharmaceutical companies to shift production to the U.S.
Last week, President Trump said he would impose a 100% tariff on pharmaceutical imports but that companies building plants in the U.S. would be exempt.
