Cannabis Stocks Rally After Trump Highlights Cannabidiol for Senior Care

Shares of cannabis companies soared Monday after President Trump shared a video touting the benefits of hemp-derived cannabidiol in senior healthcare.
In Toronto, Charlotte's Web's shares jumped 78% to C$0.24, widening the advance in 2025 to 92%. Tilray Brands was 39% higher at C$2.24, Aurora Cannabis was ahead 30% at C$8.81, Curaleaf climbed 23% to C$4.05 and Canopy Growth was up 19% at C$2.22.
The president posted on his Truth Social media platform a video from Commonwealth Project, an advocacy group for the use of medical cannabis in mainstream healthcare for those over 65. Trump made no comment on the video, which highlighted potential benefits of cannabidiol use for seniors, including reducing pain and stress, improving sleep and helping deal with health issues including cancer symptoms and Alzheimer's.
It comes after Trump recently said his administration was reviewing the possibility of reclassifying marijuana as a less dangerous drug.
