Bank of America to Add Thousands of Jobs, Lift Minimum Wage — Update
By Adriano Marchese
Bank of America said Wednesday it will raise its minimum hourly wage to $25 next month and step up hiring across the U.S., including among veterans and community college graduates.
The wage increase will bring the minimum annual pay for full-time employees to over $50,000, more than $20,000 higher than in 2017.
The financial institution, which employs about 213,000 people in 35 countries, said it also has distributed nearly $5.8 billion in restricted stock awards to employees since then as well.
As part of the expansion, Bank of America plans to hire 10,000 more people with military backgrounds over the next five years, and 8,000 new hires from community colleges. It also plans to create 700 financial center jobs in new growth markets.
