Corbus Shares Rise on FDA Fast-Track Designation for Cancer Drug

By Nicholas G. Miller

Shares of Corbus Pharmaceuticals rose after the company said the FDA gave its cancer drug fast-track designation for the treatment of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.

The stock rose 13% to $10.58 but is still down 80% over the past 12 months.

The drug, called CRB-701, is going through a clinical trial to evaluate its safety, pharmacokinetics and efficacy. The study enrolled primarily patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and cervical cancer.

Corbus will present the first dose optimization data from the study on Oct. 19.

The FDA fast-track drug designation is intended to facilitate the development and expedite the review of drugs that could fill an unmet medical need in the treatment of serious conditions.
