Ford to Cut Hourly Workforce at F-150 Lightning Plant, Detroit Free Press Reports
By Denny Jacob
--Ford Motor is slashing its hourly workforce at the factory that builds the Ford F-150 Lightning starting next week, reports the Detroit Free Press.
--Of the 2,100 workers who make up the three work crews at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Mich., one third would remain on site after April 1, according to the report, which cites a Ford spokeswoman.
--A crew of 700 would be transferred to a plant to build the Bronco and Ranger, while the remaining 700 or so would either take a $50,000 retirement package negotiated during the 2023 contract talks or accept assignment in southeast Michigan, according to the report. Ford is adding a third crew at Michigan Assembly, it added.
