Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun to Step Down at End of Year — Update

By Will Feuer

Boeing Chief Executive Dave Calhoun said he will step down at the end of the year as part of a broader shakeup after recent production problems at the aircraft maker sparked scrutiny.

Boeing didn't name a successor for Calhoun.

Boeing Chairman Larry Kellner will also exit the company. He will be succeeded by former Qualcomm CEO Steve Mollenkopf, who will lead the search for Boeing's next CEO.

Stan Deal, CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, will leave the company, too. Chief Operating Officer Stephanie Pope has taken over that role.

"It has been the greatest privilege of my life to serve Boeing," Calhoun said in a letter to employees. "The eyes of the world are on us, and I know that we will come through this moment a better company."

Shares of Boeing rose 2% in premarket trading.
